FAQ

What is Hypnotherapy, and How Does it Work?
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that leverages the power of focused attention and guided relaxation to access the subconscious mind. In a hypnotic state, the mind becomes highly receptive to positive suggestions and imagery, allowing the hypnotherapist to work collaboratively with the individual to address a variety of issues. Unlike common misconceptions, hypnotherapy does not involve losing control or being unconscious. Instead, it induces a heightened state of concentration, making it easier to explore and modify thought patterns, behaviours, and emotional responses. By tapping into the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy aims to uncover and transform underlying beliefs, facilitating positive changes and promoting overall well-being.
It is a safe and non-invasive technique that empowers individuals to harness their inner resources for personal growth, stress reduction, and achieving specific life goals.

Is Hypnotherapy Suitable for My Specific Issue or Condition?
Hypnotherapy is a versatile and effective therapeutic approach that can be applied to a wide range of issues and conditions.
Whether you’re grappling with stress, anxiety, phobias, help with smoking cessation, weight management, or other challenges, hypnotherapy might be your answer. Its adaptability lies in the ability to address the root causes of various issues by tapping into the subconscious mind. This makes hypnotherapy suitable for individuals seeking positive changes in their thought patterns, behaviours, and emotional responses. There are times when hypnotherapy is not the answer, for example, it is not suitable for people who suffer from serious mental disorders or drug and alcohol misuse.

How Many Sessions Will I Need, and What Can I Expect During a Session?
The number of treatments you need will largely depend on what you are seeking help for.
The first session is always 2 hours long, this gives us the time to truly delve into the problem and create the solution.
Follow up sessions are an hour long.

For help quitting smoking it will be the first 2 hour session and one follow up.
For help with weight loss it will usually be the first 2 hour session, then 2-4 follow up sessions.
For help with stress, anxiety and overwhelm it will usually be the first 2 hour session, then 2-4 follow up sessions.
For help with self confidence and achieving life and/or business goals it will usually be the first 2 hour session, then 2-4 follow up sessions.

Sessions will be done online, you will need to find a calm, comfortable and quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Make sure you have good internet. It is best done with headphones but if you don’t have any, that is fine. It is best to keep pets out of the room, for some reason they just love to join in.
The session will involve conversation where we explore what is going on and what you would love to achieve. During this we create your plan, if appropriate we then use a hypnotic state to help achieve this. This state is simply a gentle relaxed state, usually with your eyes closed to help focus the mind.

Is Hypnotherapy Safe, and Are There Any Side Effects?
Hypnotherapy is considered a safe and non-invasive therapeutic approach. It involves inducing a state of focused attention and relaxation, commonly referred to as a hypnotic trance. During this state, individuals remain aware, in control, and able to terminate the session at any time. After you may feel tired and drowsy.
It is essential to choose a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist, such as Margaret Sinclair at Mind Tamers, to ensure a secure and professional therapeutic experience. As with any therapeutic method, results may vary, but the vast majority of individuals find hypnotherapy to be a safe and beneficial tool for addressing a variety of concerns, fostering positive change, and enhancing overall well-being.
